City Manager Appointment
At the September 16, 2024 public meeting, Oakwood City Council voted unanimously to appoint Katie M. Smiddy as our next city manager. Ms. Smiddy will begin employment with Oakwood on Monday, October 14 and her first official day as city manager will be Friday, November 1. Ms. Smiddy replaces Norbert Klopsch, who has served as city manager since April 1, 2002.
Following the requirements of the Oakwood City Charter, City Council conducted a thorough search and interview process to select Ms. Smiddy. She was one of 24 candidates that applied for the position. Ms. Smiddy comes to Oakwood from the City of Springdale, where she served as Finance Director. She previously served as the Finance Director of the City of Montgomery and CFO of Hamilton County Community Action Agency after holding various positions for over 18 years in Butler County.
She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Xavier University and a Master of Public Administration from Wright State University. She is also a graduate of the Leading, Educating, and Developing (LEAD) Program from the University of Virginia.
Katie has been married to her spouse, Joe, for 24 years. They have two children.
