The Comprehensive Planning Committee was established to assist City Council, Staff and the City's planning consultant in preparing the 2004 City Comprehensive Plan. The Plan is a guide for community improvements and development for a 10 to 15 year period and focuses on land-use planning, transportation planning and public facilities planning. The 2004 Plan superseded the City's original Comprehensive Plan adopted in 1989. The Committee's initial work was completed on June 14, 2004 when City Council unanimously approved the 2004 Comprehensive Plan. Since adoption of the 2004 Plan, the Committee serves to assist City Council and Staff in implementing the recommendations in the Plan. This includes helping to prioritize the stated Plan objectives.
