The Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC) is working collaboratively with 18 local communities, including Oakwood, and is in the final stages of negotiating pricing for both residential and small commercial electric and natural gas aggregation. By leveraging the buying power of 18 communities, we are providing competitive pricing for your energy needs.
The current MVCC Electric Aggregation Program rate of 6.57 cents/kWh is good through the December 2025 billing period. We anticipate contracting with an electric supplier for another 24-month term beginning January 2026 to ensure continued savings to Oakwood residents and small businesses. Since the MVCC Electric Aggregation Program started in September 2023, residential and small business customers in the 18 participating cities have saved more than $30 million in energy costs. While we anticipate further savings over the next two years, based upon current market conditions, the savings will be less than the initial offering.
In addition to electric aggregation, for the first time, a natural gas aggregation program is being offered to Oakwood residents and small businesses beginning with the October 2025 billing cycle. During the winter months, natural gas pricing becomes more volatile and participation in an aggregation program will enable you to lock into a fixed rather than variable rate. Unlike electric aggregation where savings are quantifiable, the objective with natural gas aggregation is competitive pricing, budget stability, and an established price ceiling. Once the natural gas rate is finalized, you will receive a letter from the supplier outlining details of the program. Additional information will be forthcoming in late summer.
