Regrettably, the COVID-19 crisis forces the cancellation of this traditional annual event that was scheduled for May 16. That Day in May is planned and conducted annually by the Oakwood Rotary Club. The event typically includes a pancake breakfast, 5K, 10K and fun runs, community parade, car show, dog costume contest, silent auction, games, rides, refreshments, displays and more. The first That Day in May (TDIM) was held in 1976, as Oakwood’s part in celebrating our nation’s bicentennial!
Although the all-day festival is cancelled, the That Day In May 5k, 10k and Fun Runs are still a go for 2020!!! However, it will be a little bit different this year. The runs will be virtual thanks to the good friends at Speedy Feet! Sign up, run the race on your own, post times, take pictures, take videos, check your results against other racers and help bring the community together! The run is free, but the Oakwood Rotary Club is accepting donations for St. Vincent De Paul to help men, women, and children in need in our beloved Dayton area. Please tell your friends! With every donation of $25, you will receive one of the famous Oakwood Rotary Club TDIM race t-shirts.
