Far Hills Storm Sewer Reconstruction Project Update – 3/7

Posted on March 8, 2024

Project Highlights:

Storm Sewer Construction on Devereux Drive: Kinnison Excavating crews have completed the majority of storm sewer construction along Devereux Drive. This includes the main trunk line and most “branches” leading to storm sewer inlets along the road. Backfilling with gravel was completed last month. Devereux Drive remains closed to through traffic as we prepare for sanitary sewer replacement and full reconstruction of the roadway in the coming weeks. Access to the construction site along Far Hills from Devereux may still be necessary for the remainder of Phase 2.

Recent Progress on Phase 2 (Devereux & Crossing Far Hills): Excavation, pipe laying, and backfilling have been completed from Devereux through the property at 1313 Far Hills. Additionally, a new storm sewer has been laid and backfilled from the northbound Far Hills lanes into the median. Crews are preparing to connect the new sewer from in the Far Hills median to the new sewer on 1313 Far Hills.

Upcoming Work:

Traffic Shift & Construction on Southbound Lanes of Far Hills: Scheduled to begin March 18, traffic along Far Hills will shift to the northbound lanes (east of the median), between Oakwood High School and Forrer Road/Forrer Boulevard. Side streets within this zone will be restricted to right-in/right-out only access. This shift will expedite Kinnison’s work along Far Hills, allowing ODOT to repave the road later this spring or early summer. The traffic shift is expected to remain in place for about two weeks, weather permitting. Please proceed with caution when traveling through the work zone.

Phase 3 (Forrer Boulevard): Following the completion of Phase 2, Kinnison Excavating will shift focus to replacing storm sewer along Forrer Boulevard from Far Hills through the triangular boulevard at East Schantz. Work on Forrer is anticipated to begin at the end of March or early April.

Note: Softscape restoration to this point is mostly temporary and will be monitored and restored permanently once major construction work on Far Hills is complete.
