The City of Oakwood is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Code Enforcement Officer. This position reports to the City Manager and administers daily operations of the Planning and Zoning Department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and manages the code enforcement, planning, and zoning activities within the framework of established policy and pertinent laws and ordinances.
  • Analyzes development project and construction plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.
  • Establish policies and procedures for the administration of planning and zoning.
  • Perform pre-sale and rental inspections to ensure all codes and regulations have been properly followed and met.
  • Conduct site inspections of commercial and residential construction and renovation projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. This may include but is not limited to inspection of equipment, materials, methods, measurements, and construction quality.
  • Review building plans and issue permits and occupancy certificates in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Perform a variety of duties related to code administration, including but not limited to issuing notices and citations, attending court hearings and preparing case materials as needed.
  • Act as staff liaison to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Property Maintenance Board, including but not limited to the preparation of staff reports and coordination of public meetings of these groups.
  • Performs all other related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in building trades or inspection, construction, safety inspections and/or code enforcement; or
  • Equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

COMPENSATION:

The current pay range is $72,000.00 – $86,833 annually, depending on qualifications and knowledge, plus an excellent benefits package including but not limited to health and dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, paid leave, and enrollment in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) pension program.
