CUSTODIAN

The City of Oakwood is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Custodian in the Parks & Recreation Division. This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor and administers daily custodial operations of the Oakwood Community Center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the security of City buildings, including opening and closing facilities.
  • Shovel and salt sidewalks and driveways around City buildings and recreational areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, drinking fountains, walls, partitions, shower stalls, facility windows, and the kitchen; replenish supplies and clear drains.
  • Dust and vacuum facilities, and remove trash.
  • Set up and clean up for classes, programs, and events as needed.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) per OSHA/PERRP requirements.
  • Perform semi-skilled repairs such as painting, fan motor replacement, changing electrical outlets and covers, replacing HVAC filters, and troubleshooting minor operational issues.
  • Maintain inventory and purchase cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Inspect, maintain, and organize custodial tools and equipment.
  • Perform tile floor care, including stripping, refinishing, and polishing.
  • Assist with seasonal decorating, plant care, transporting bulk mailings, and maintaining outdoor landscaping around the facility as needed.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Foster teamwork and cooperation through effective communication and support of co-workers and supervisors.
  • Additional duties may be assigned to meet organizational needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in facilities cleaning and maintenance.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license.

COMPENSATION:

The current pay range is $16.02 – $24.89 per hour, depending on qualifications and knowledge, plus an excellent benefits package including but not limited to health and dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, paid leave, and enrollment in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) pension program.

HIRING PROCESS:

The successful candidate will be required to complete a thorough background process, including a criminal check, physical exam, and drug screen.
