General Service Worker/Refuse Collection
GENERAL SERVICE WORKER
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The City of Oakwood is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of General Service Worker-Refuse for the Public Works Department. The General Service Worker reports to the Public Works Foremen and performs primarily refuse collection duties and other general maintenance duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs primarily refuse and yard debris collection activities.
- Operates and ensures maintenance of hand tools and equipment like shovels, rakes, brooms, chainsaws, tamps, rollers, jackhammers and snowplows.
- Operates trucks and scooters to and from work sites.
- Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience in general refuse collection.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or capable of obtaining CDL within 12 months of employment.
COMPENSATION:
The current pay range is $21.81/hour to $31.37/hour depending on qualifications and knowledge, plus an excellent benefits package including but not limited to health and dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and enrollment in the Ohio Public Retirement System (OPERS) pension program.
