WATER PLANT SUPERINTENDENT
The City of Oakwood is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Water Plant Superintendent in the Public Works Department. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local water treatment quality regulations governing water production and oversees treatment processes to ensure the reliable delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to the community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the daily operations of the City’s water production system, including planning, organizing, operating, and maintaining water production wells, pump stations, water tanks, motor repairs, and water treatment plants.
- Prepare documentation, including but not limited to annual consumer confidence reports, other reports as required by regulatory agencies, contingency plans, asset management plan, the risk and resilience plan, and sampling plans.
- Operate, maintain, and repair water treatment systems, including iron and manganese removal and water softening facilities.
- Repair and calibrate gauges, pumps, filters, and related control systems and equipment.
- Regulate and monitor chemical feed systems according to standard operating procedures.
- Review, evaluate, and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Inspect wells, plants, and related facilities daily to ensure efficient operation and regulatory compliance.
- Collect and analyze water and waste samples to prepare plant efficiency and compliance reports.
- Ensure daily inspections and data collection, including weekends; personally cover 1-2 weekends per month and coordinate the remaining weekend coverage with Water and Sewer Division personnel.
- Prepare required operational and compliance reports for regulatory agencies, including the Ohio EPA.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems, electrical and mechanical systems, and related control equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors and regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in water production and treatment.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Ohio Class II (or higher) Water Supply Certification.
- Backflow Certification.
- Ohio Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement.
COMPENSATION:
The current pay range is $ 83,500 – $96,766 annually, depending on qualifications and experience, plus an excellent benefits package including, but not limited to, health and dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, paid leave, and enrollment in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) pension program.
