The city of Oakwood completed a roadway improvement project on the 1.1 mile section of Shroyer Road in 2017. The project converted Shroyer Road from two lanes in each direction (4-lane section) to a single through lane in each direction and a left turn lane (3-lane section). The roadway change was made to improve the safety of Shroyer Road for all transportation modes (e.g., vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle) by reducing all crash types. Based on a comparison of pre and post construction accident and speed data, the project was very successful. The City published a paper on the statistics and City Manager Norbert Klopsch delivered a presentation to City Council.
