Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Project
Many years ago, Oakwood City Council initiated a sidewalk, curb, carriage walk (the walk from the sidewalk to the curb) and driveway apron repair and reconstruction program. The intent of the program is to keep these structures, which are located within the city rights-of-way, in good, safe condition.
Under the city's program, the cost of improvements to roadway curb and driveway aprons is paid by the city, and the cost of improvements to the sidewalks and carriage walks is the responsibility of those persons owning the abutting property. The only exceptions to this are as follows:
- The city pays for sidewalk repairs along the radius at street intersections, including construction of wheelchair ramps where sidewalks meet the street.
- The city pays for sidewalk repair on the side yard of corner properties.
2020 Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Project
The 2020 Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Repair Project will take place in the northeast quadrant of Oakwood bounded by Irving Avenue, Springhouse Road, Far Hills Avenue, Patterson Road and Acorn Drive. The purpose of the project is to maintain the concrete structures located within the city rights-of-way in good, safe condition. We have begun inspecting the areas and marking sections of concrete requiring repairs. Residents affected by the work will receive personal notification regarding their responsibilities. For those who choose to do the repair work themselves, please remember to obtain a permit in advance and that all work must be completed and inspected by May 15.
Please contact Streets Foreman David Shuey at (937) 298-0777 if you have any questions about the project.
