Planning Commission
The Planning Commission has broad responsibility over land-use issues within the city. Primary responsibilities include:
- Hearing and making recommendations to Council on applications for amendments to the Zoning Code.
- Hearing and passing upon applications for special use permits. Special use permits are required for uses which, because of their unique characteristics, cannot be properly classified as permitted under the Zoning Code.
- Hearing and passing upon applications for variances to the Zoning Code under certain circumstances.
-
The Planning Commission considers the facts of each application and the input and comments received from citizens through the public hearing process.
