Tax/Water & Sewer/Assembly Appeals Board
The Tax/Water & Sewer/Assembly Appeals Board hears claims for damages for alleged errors relating to income tax issues and sewer and water billing. The Board also hears cases where the Public Safety Director has denied a permit request for parade or assembly. The Board determines the facts in such matters and applies the law. The Board does not have the authority to vary, waive or refuse to apply any provisions of the law. In regard to tax appeals, the Board has jurisdiction to hear appeals and to affirm, reverse or modify any assessment or ruling made by the Income Tax Administrator. Claimants have the burden of proof.
MEMBERSHIP: The Board consists of three citizens who are not employees of the City but who may serve on other citizen boards and commissions. Board members serve three year terms. The Board selects one member to serve as Chairperson. The Board is on call, meeting only when an appeal has been filed.
