Board of Health
Oakwood operates a Local Health Department, but works in close coordination with Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County, which serves all of Montgomery County. The Board of Health is assisted by the Health Commissioner, Assistant Health Commissioner/Medical Director, Environmental Health Director and Board Administrator. The Board addresses issues related to public health including inspections of food service operations, retail food establishments, public swimming pools, schools, and the municipal jail. The Board of Health responds to public health concerns as they may arise.
MEMBERSHIP: Five members who are citizens holding no other city office or employment. Members are appointed by City Council and serve five year terms. At least one member shall be a physician admitted to practice in Ohio and in good professional standing. Board elects a Chair and Vice Chair annually. Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every other month.
