About the project
In 2019, the city completed a stormwater drainage study along sections of Far Hills Avenue, Dellwood Avenue, Devereux Drive and Forrer Boulevard. The study was commissioned to determine the cause of periodic flooding in these areas during heavy rainfall events. It revealed aging and inadequately sized storm sewers and resulted in planning for a major stormwater infrastructure improvement project which is called Far Hills Storm Sewer Reconstruction.
The Far Hills Storm Sewer Reconstruction project was successfully bid in April 2023 and was awarded to Kinnison Excavating. Kinnison began construction in late July and work will continue through the summer and fall months.
The scope and nature of the work requires temporary roadway closures, detours and parking restrictions, from time to time. It also includes the typical construction noise associated with open trenching and installing large diameter storm sewer pipe, up to 42 inches. City officials are working closely with the contractor to ensure that disruptions to the adjacent neighborhoods are kept to a minimum.
As a means of keeping Oakwood citizens and the general public informed on the status of construction activities, roadway closures, detours, etc., we have created this webpage and are sending periodic updates via email.
