Katharine Wright Park
Katharine Wright Park, located in the center of Oakwood behind Wright Memorial Public Library, was established in memory of her when Oakwood was still a village. It has an informal garden atmosphere with mature trees, flowers, native plants, as well as stone ruins from an old farm house that was subsequently moved to 25 Aberdeen Ave. This much-loved park also incorporates a large grass playing field adjacent to Smith Elementary School’s playground equipment and blacktop. It was established by Oakwood Village Council resolution on the same day in 1929 as Shafor Park.
