GDRTA Trolley Line Removal

Overhead trolley lines, present along the Oakwood Avenue and Far Hills Avenue corridors in Oakwood and in to Kettering, have been out of service since the mid- to late-2010s and have become too costly for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA) to maintain. GDRTA plans to begin a trolley line removal project in 2024. It is anticipated that the overhead trolley lines and electrical wires that served the trolley lines will be removed prior to the repaving of Far Hills in late spring or early summer. GDRTA will then systematically remove the span poles throughout the rest of the year, leaving the entire corridor much less cluttered and more aesthetically pleasing to residents and commuters.
